ICT S.O.S. will host 5K race to raise awareness of human trafficking and funds for victim services.
Wichita, KS, August 29, 2018: The Race for Freedom 5K Run/Walk will take place Saturday September 8, 2018 at 8:30 am starting and finishing on the beautiful campus of Carpenter Place- 1501 N. Meridian Wichita, KS. This fast, flat course will run through the residential area, along the river and loop back to Carpenter Place. Participants may walk, run or sign up as a virtual participant. A ½ K kids’ run will follow the race. After-race festivities include a pancake feed, live music and facepainting.
Each year this race is organized by the volunteers of ICT S.O.S. to benefit a local direct service partner agency. Funds raised this year will be used to support the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. This unit is a partnership of the Wichita Police Department, Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Department and Homeland Security and investigates online abuse and exploitation of children in our state. Over the past 6 years, this event has raised over $138,000, all of which has been donated to the benefitting agencies. Last year’s race drew 1,084 runners and walkers.
